The Journey of Scott Taylor’s Writing Life

I’m not what you would call a stereotypical writer. I’m a six foot plus chunk of a man who spent over 25 years as a pub and club ‘bouncer’ before realising that I was getting sick of being spat at and being called a fat, ginger sausage. I spent years competing in strength athletics, (which has cost me the cartilage in at least one of my knees) and spent an equal amount of time drinking beer and trying to rot my brain.
But the need to be creative was always there in the background, and I found that as an avid reader, writing was a viable escape into a world where I could not only try and make people laugh, but also allowed me to change people’s preconceptions about what a large ex-bouncer was intellectually able to do.

Over time I had some short stories published in other books and websites, and eventually decided to write down a collection of stories from my time working on the doors, which I later gathered together as an ebook in 2015.

This gave me a newfound confidence to continue writing. Subsequently, I’m putting the finishing touches on my first attempt at fiction with my forthcoming novel, ‘RUST: Harvest of the Hidden’, which I aim to have available in paperback and ebook by the start of 2025.

A person who publishes a book willfully appears before the populace with his pants down.

The Heart of Storytelling: A Philosophy on Writing and Connection

Stories have the power to connect us, transcending time and place. I believe each tale holds lessons that resonate with our everyday lives.

Through my writing, I strive to capture authenticity and evoke emotions, providing readers with relatable narratives that make them feel understood and engaged.
